Integral to the Gondwana National Choral Program is training and mentoring opportunities for young and emerging conductors and composers. In 2009 we have two outstanding skills development opportunities:
1. THE GONDWANA YOUNG COMPOSER AWARD
Australian composers aged from 14 – 25 are invited to submit a short work for treble voices to be performed by Junior Gondwana at National Choral School 2009. The winner will receive a cash prize and the winning entry will be performed at the National Choral School concert at Futter Hall, The King’s School on 24 January.
Guidelines: 3 – 5 minute work (or several shorter pieces) for up to 3 parts. The work will need to be suitable for upper primary/lower secondary aged children in Junior Gondwana. It could be a cappella or accompanied by piano. The work should have been written in the last 12 months and should not previously have been performed.
Prize: $1,000
