NATIONAL CHORAL SCHOOL – PARRAMATTA, NSW
In 2009, Gondwana National Choral School will be held at The King’s School Parramatta, NSW. During this exciting residential season of rehearsals, workshops and performances choristers will have the opportunity of working with some of Australia’s foremost choral conductors. Following on the success of the 2008 choral /percussion extravaganza, there will be a new special project involving all National Choral School participants and Australia’s most exciting electronic music artist, Paul Mac. Gondwana Chorale and Gondwana Voices choristers who are also advanced instrumentalists have the option of participating in the Gondwana Chamber Orchestra as well as singing. The Orchestra rehearses regularly during National Choral School and performs in the final concerts. The vibrant, happy atmosphere of National Choral School will be enhanced by the spacious grounds and superb facilities available at The King’s School.

Financial assistance
Gondwana aims to make its programs accessible to all young Australians and has a Bursary Program to provide financial assistance for participation fees and travel costs where possible.
FURTHER 2009 ACTIVITIES
2009 will be a year of rewarding choral opportunities for Gondwana National Choral Program participants. Following participation in National Choral School participants will have the opportunity for selection in a number of activities. These include:
1. MAY: JUNIOR GONDWANA MID-SEASON WEEKEND CAMP – SYDNEY
Junior Gondwana Choristers have the opportunity to take part in one of the Sydney Children’s Choir’s weekend camps at Naamaroo Conference Centre. The camp will include fun rehearsals and multi artform workshops providing the perfect mid year boost for any chorister craving more of the ‘Gondwana’ experience.
Dates: 22 – 24 May 2009
Venue: Naamaroo Conference Centre, Sydney
Cost: $250 (inc GST)
Cost includes accommodation & full board at the camp, ground transfers, music & tuition. Please note that return transport from each chorister’s home to Sydney airport at the beginning and end of the season and travel insurance are not included in this cost.
In 2009 Gondwana Voices makes their first visit to Central Europe, performing in Austria, Slovenia and other countries in the region. Choristers will have the unique opportunity to discover parts of Europe that are rich in both musical history and natural beauty. The choir will arrive in Vienna and travel to Slovenia, collaborating with a number of leading ensembles en route. The tour will also include exciting sightseeing opportunities including a trip to the birthplace of Mozart, Salzburg in Austria.
Dates: 27 June – 19 July 2009 (includes rehearsal period in Sydney)
Cost: Approx. $5,500 (please note exact cost will be confirmed in 2009)
Cost will include accommodation, full board, air and ground travel on tour, tour clothing & travel insurance. Please note that return transport from each chorister’s home to Sydney airport at the beginning and end of the season is not included in this cost.
3. JULY: GONDWANA CHORALE FESTIVAL OF VOICES AND TASMANIAN TOUR
In 2009 the Festival of Voices will once again be filling the streets and venues of Hobart as singers from across Australia meet to celebrate the voice. The Gondwana Chorale will make its Festival of Voices debut as Principal Guest Choir and will have numerous performance and workshop opportunities with leading conductors and performers. Following the Festival, the choir will head off on a concert tour of Northern Tasmania.

Venues: Hobart, Burnie & Launceston
Cost: $1,200 (inc GST)
Cost includes homestay and hotel accommodation, some meals, ground transfers & music. Please note that transport from each chorister’s home to Hobart airport at the beginning of the season and transport from and end of the season and travel insurance are not included in this cost.
4. DECEMBER: GONDWANA VOICES VOICES OF ANGELS SEASON - SYDNEY
Every year Sydney Children’s Choir and Gondwana Voices celebrate the festive season with an uplifting concert of traditional Christmas music as well as fresh and fun new sounds of an Australian Christmas. Gondwana Voices will take part in a series of intensive rehearsals in Sydney before performing in two joyous concerts at City Recital Hall Angel Place on Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 December.

Cost: TBC $250 (GST not applicable)
